Revenue increased to $403.8m from $393m in FY25, while operating cashflow reached $181.7m.

The port will pay a $55m dividend to Auckland Council, up from $52m last year.

Container throughput increased 5.5% to 932,209 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEU), while car volumes jumped 17.7% to 202,555 vehicles.

Roll-on roll-off tonnage rose 27.2% to 1.15 million tonnes and the number of containers moved by rail increased 76.3% to 184,826.

Cruise activity went the other way, with ship calls down 33.3% to 78.

Port of Auckland chief executive Roger Gray says the higher volumes helped deliver the improved result.

“We have a stable mix of trades across our car and vehicle import business, cruise, bulk and breakbulk cargo, and containers, which helps deliver these results.

“From these trades our operating cash flow was $181.7 million, which gives us a strong base to keep supporting our customers and deliver sustainable long-term value for Auckland,” Gray says.

Port of Auckland chair Jan Dawson says the result provides a platform for further investment.

“This has been another important year for the port and reflects the significant progress the business has made.

“The result has been built on safe and stable operations, increased volumes, consistent execution and the commitment of our people, while continuing to build the infrastructure and capability Auckland will need for the future,” Dawson says.

The port is investing in infrastructure, technology and assets to increase capacity and resilience as it prepares for future growth.

Port of Auckland finished the year with total assets of $1.62 billion and equity of $1.10b.
