It makes TIL Logistics, who operate brands such as Hooker Pacific and Roadstar, the largest commercial operator of MAN in Australasia.

The truck range in the deal includes the TGS day cabs and TGX XL sleeper cabs in 6×4 and 8×4 configurations with power output ranging between 480 and 540hp.

Penske New Zealand national sales manager Dean Hoverd says the two firms have enjoyed a long standing relationship which played a key role in the deal.

“We have worked with TIL for several years so we knew that safety and technology features were important, as was reliability, fuel economy and low whole of life costs.

“With sound leadership, TIL has experienced huge growth and it has been exciting to work closely with the team to plan their future fleet requirements and to watch them successfully grow their business,” Hoverd says.

TIL managing director Jim Ramsay says the overall response from employees to the MAN trucks has been “extremely positive”.

“Our drivers like the trucks, the fuel economy is a huge plus and I have received many comments about how great the trucks look, which is a big positive for our company image.

“Working with Penske New Zealand is a pleasure. It is an open and ethical organisation to do business with. I appreciate that, as I appreciate the great service and personal attention that we receive,” Ramsay says.

Penske is the exclusive importer and distributor of Western Star trucks, MAN Truck & Bus, as well as Dennis Eagle trucks across Australia and New Zealand.

It has a network of 55 dealers across Australia and 15 dealers across New Zealand.
