A discharged bankrupt who runs a bed and breakfast exclusively for truck drivers from his Onehunga rental property now wants to sell the business and join his recently-married wife in China.
Gav’s Place – Man Cave, which is the creation of Gavin Westacott, is advertising for $35,000 on Trade Me.
The business can bring in up to $1000 per day, and the Trade Me advertisement says it makes a profit of more than $30,000 per year.
According to Stuff, Westacott set up the business five years ago with his sister.
He says the B&B business was put on hold while he served six months home detention for 20 charges of theft, the result from a dispute over another previously owned motel business.
The truckers-style lodge charges $130 per night and has five bedrooms with nine beds. The business also features on Air BNB.
Westacott told Stuff his previous business has a regular client base of truck drivers, and those same drivers are now his regular Man Cave guests.
He claims to be a sole trader, and the B&B is a GST registered business.
Westacott told Stuff that the truck drivers prefer the social activity of the lodge opposed to a motel, and they also enjoy his style of home cooking – he hasn’t received any complaints as yet.
