Specialist transport and trucking insurance brokerage O’Connor Warren has been recognised at the 2018 New Zealand Insurance Industry Awards.
The Tauranga-based firm was awarded Small-Medium Broking Company of the Year and runner up in Young Insurance Professionals Employer of the Year.
It is the second time the company has been nominated in the awards having been a finalist and runner-up in 2016.
Director Eamon O’Connor says the success of his firm is all thanks to the transport industry.
“Our business has been built of the back of advising and supporting the transport industry and this award is a recognition of that.
“If it wasn’t for the transport industry we wouldn’t be where we are today,” O’Connor says.
The business, which has a team of eight, was recognised for its innovative approach to recruiting young people into the insurance sector.
This includes its junior broker internship launched in 2016 which has seen a number of new recruits join the company straight out of high school.
The team was up against industry giants such as NZI and AA Insurance who were also nominated in the awards.
The winners were announced at an awards dinner evening on Thursday, November 29 at SkyCity Convention Centre, Auckland.
