NZTA suspends Auckland-based inspector

Following concerns, the NZ Transport agency has immediately suspended vehicle inspector Hamza Hamza and his Auckland-based inspecting organisation Super Cheap Tyres and Auto Services (2016).

Non-compliant vehicles may have been given warrants of fitness, and the site is conducting an unusually high number of inspections with just Hamza as inspector, says NZTA.

It adds there is a “strong possibility” some vehicles may have been incorrectly passed.

The review raises concerns around the quality of Luo’s inspections, and advises people who have a current Warrant of Fitness issued from Super Cheap Tyres and Auto Services get their vehicles rechecked.

The NZTA says it will contact 297 affected vehicle owners individually as soon as possible about recheck options. Vouchers will be provided.
