New Zealand’s total industry fuel volume was down 4.8% year-on-year with 2.3 billion litres for the third quarter to December 31, according to Industry Exchange data.

Z’s total fuel volume was down 1.3% year-on-year for the quarter with 1.09 billion litres.
The company’s total diesel volume was down 4.6% year-on-year with 310 million litres in the quarter led by a decline in commercial transport.
Truck stop volume was down across Z’s networks from customer losses and slower economic activity. Retail diesel volume was flat year-on-year.
Z’s retail petrol declined by 7.8% to 282 million litres year-on-year led by market share losses in its Caltex-branded network while Z’s retail petrol volume remained flat for the period.
Other fuels declined 3.4% for the period due to a decline in fuel oil volumes and a small decline in jet fuel compared to the prior period, Z reports.
