The organisation has been nominated for Excellence in Customer Service Delivery and People’s Choice categories for the South & East region.

Voting is currently open and includes a total of 50 entrants with finalists to be announced at a regional finalist function.

National Road Carriers Association (NRC) provides non-profit advocacy and representation for 1800 members, who collectively operate 16,000 trucks throughout New Zealand.

NRC supports its members with legal, financial, employment relations, health & safety, workplace relations, business and environmental advice.

It advocates on behalf of members and works with central and local government on road transport infrastructure and regulations.

The roots of the organisation were formed in the mid-1930s when the road transport industry was just coming out of the Great Depression.

Truckers in Auckland were locked in a “David versus Goliath struggle” and the Master Carriers dominated – they had all the benefits, from discounts to lobbying clout. Small town carriers meanwhile, were struggling to survive.

On Monday, October 5 1936, twenty-nine of these owner-drivers gathered at the Trades Hall in Hobson Street to form an association with a mission to serve the needs of operators of all sizes.

They won out, and more than  80 years since, National Road Carriers have become a progressive nationwide organisation in New Zealand representing road carriers of every size – from the one person owner/operator to some of the largest road carriers in the country.

The organisation is also respected by fuel and oil companies and other major suppliers, with whom it negotiates powerful deals on our member’s behalf.
