State Highway 1 has been closed as flooding hits the Southbound side of Auckland’s northern motorway.
The lanes southbound between Northcote Off-ramp and Onewa On-ramp were closed at 10am due to the high tide and strong winds. High tide was due just before 11am.
The agency has put a short diversion in place through local roads, though is suggesting trips are avoided. It has also recommended using the Western Ring Route.
It has also kept State Highway 1 on either side of Kaikoura closed this morning after minor rockfalls and surface flooding in several places. The highway to the south between Peketa and Goose Bay and the northern link between Clarence and Mangamaunu remains closed and the next update will be at midday. (See links below for updates.)
The inland road (Route 70) via Waiau and Mt Lyford remains open as the road into Kaikoura.
