Scania has unveiled its latest addition to the Super powertrain line-up—an 11-litre engine designed to deliver increased fuel efficiency and reduced weight without sacrificing performance.
The new Super 11 engine is aimed at operators in weight-sensitive and energy-efficient transport segments, offering a fuel efficiency gain of up to 7% compared to Scania’s 9-litre engine. At 85kg lighter than the 13-litre Super engine, it also allows greater payload capacity in high-performance applications.
“This engine opens new possibilities for energy-efficient and cost-effective transport. It’s lighter, leaner and more flexible, yet it still carries the strength and reliability for which Scania is known,” says Ayyoob Zarmehri, trucks sales and marketing product manager at Scania.
“It’s a smart choice for operators who need to balance performance, payload and sustainability in their daily work.”
Available in three performance levels—350hp, 390hp, and 430hp—the engine meets Euro 4, 5 and 6 emission standards and is built for a broad spectrum of tasks, from urban logistics to regional haulage. It also shares 85% of its components with the larger Super 13 engine, a move that reinforces Scania’s approach to modular design and proven reliability.
Maintenance intervals for the Super 11 stretch up to 30% longer than the 9-litre equivalent when using Scania’s LDF-5 engine oil, allowing operators to reduce downtime and service costs.
Under the bonnet, the Super 11 introduces several key technologies that contribute to its performance and driver comfort. Among them is Scania’s cam phaser system, enabling real-time thermal management through variable valve timing.
Enhanced software, balance shafts to reduce vibration, and the company’s Variable Valve Brake (VVB) system—delivering up to 344kW of braking power—also feature.

Scania’s patented turbo dosing system improves AdBlue efficiency and contributes to cleaner emissions, the company says.
The engine is compatible with renewable fuels HVO and FAME, offering a lower-emissions option without the need for new infrastructure.
The engine’s compact footprint and broad performance capability make it suitable for a wide range of applications, including tipper and bulk haulage, fuel and volume transport, refuse collection, general cargo, recovery, and emergency response.
“The Super 11 engine represents the next generation of intelligent transport. It combines the best of Scania’s engineering with the efficiency and adaptability that today’s operators demand,” Zarmehri says.
“Whether in the city or out on longer routes, this engine is built to perform – mile after mile.”
The Scania Super 11 will have its first international orders available from June 2025.
