Hutt South MP Chris Bishop has taken opposition portfolios of transport and regional development following a National Party reshuffle.
National leader Simon Bridges announced the changes on Tuesday following the resignation of Selwyn MP and opposition finance spokeswoman Amy Adams who will step down at the end of the 2020 election.
Bishop is the party’s biggest winner, moving up 18 places in the rankings, and taking the portfolios from Paul Goldsmith.
Goldsmith moves up four spots and takes on the finance portfolio from Adams and also takes the infrastructure portfolio from Judith Collins.
Regional and economic development will now be split across two spokespeople with Todd McClay looking after economic development, while Bishop takes on regional development and transport.
“Chris has done a brilliant job as spokesperson for police and deserves to take on more responsibility,” Bridges says.
“Paul is the natural choice for the finance role. He has done an outstanding job holding the Government to account in the economic and regional development portfolio,” Bridges says.
