Naked Bus has marked its eighth year of operation by predicting that passenger numbers will grow by at least 25% in 2015, due to the cost of domestic air travel.
CEO Hamish Nuttall says more than 2.5 million passengers have boarded a Naked Bus since the service launched on 17 October 2006.
“Bringing the ‘low-cost airline concept’ to New Zealand roads was designed to meet demand for affordable, accessible travel,” says Nuttall.
“Eight years on, our prediction for 2015 is that we will see at least a 25% growth in passenger numbers.
“One of the factors driving growth is expensive domestic air travel – people need the reliable low-cost alternative that we provide to main centres, and to regional cities and towns,” he says.
“Flexibility and cost are paramount for our customers. We have split pricing so people with no luggage can have a cheaper fare.”
