Mike’s Transport Warehouse (MTW) is boosting its online trading as a one-stop shop for heavy transport and trailer equipment.

The Hamilton-based parts supplier, a division of Modern Transport Engineers, has around 8000 line items.

The service was launched in May last year and about a quarter of its stock is currently available to order online.

MTW general manager Chris Prestidge says this is getting built up and in time the site will have all items available to order.

It is open to retail customers and MTW account customers will soon be able to utilise the service too.

MTW is gearing up for a lot of growth and has recently appointed Graham Penniket as the team’s new sales manager.

“This year has been going really well for us and things have picked up well,” Prestidge says.

MTW remained open to support essential service customers during the COVID lockdown periods with critical parts.

It holds large stockholdings so any interruption to supply from overseas suppliers is cushioned to the end customer.

Prestidge says keeping good communication with customers was critical during that time.

MTW was established in 2002 and stocks a wide range of truck and trailer parts and accessories, to genuine OEM parts in areas such as freight handling, lights and electrical, hydraulics, warehouse stock and more.

Its Te Rapa site features a showroom with experienced sales reps. It also has a presence in Auckland and other parts of the country plus a base in Brisbane.

The Modern Transport group of companies was founded in 1973 by Robin Ratcliffe and has been operating for over 45 years within the New Zealand and Australian heavy transport industry. The group employs over 350 staff over its seven globally operating business units.
