Move Logistics Group has welcomed its new vessel, the Atlas Wind, into the country which will soon be put to work on trans-Tasman freight operations.
It acquired the ship out of Europe and it can carry 366 containers, or the equivalent of 5000 tonnes of bulk cargo.
With two cranes on board, the vessel has the ability to call into ports that historically may not have been able to accept containerised and bulk cargoes.
Move’s oceans general manager Dale Slade announced the arrival of this vessel on LinkedIn and says it will begin operating on a monthly rotation connecting New Zealand and Australia.
“We believe this service will not only enhance our shipping capabilities, but also provide valuable economic opportunities for both countries.
“We can’t wait to see the positive impact this vessel will have on our customers businesses and communities it will serve.
“We look forward to a successful future with this vessel as a key part of our operation,” Slade says.
