Also retiring is director and founder shareholder Jim Ramsey who played a key role in starting the company more than 30 years ago.

Janes says it has “been a privilege” to have been chairman of the group since its listing three years ago”.

“Our company is now moving into the next stage of its journey with a refreshed board and new leadership.

“Lorraine is a dynamic and experienced director with over 20 years’ governance experience. She was the unanimous choice of the board,” he says.

Witten says she is “delighted to be stepping into the role of chair” and acknowledged the significant contributions of both Janes and Ramsey.

Trevor Janes

“Jim is one of the founders of Move and without him, our company would not exist. Jim’s career spans more than 50 years and his passion and deep industry knowledge have been intrinsic to the creation of one of New Zealand’s leading transport companies.

“Jim has been the recipient of a number of awards including being made a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport, awarded the Supreme Mayoral Award for Business Excellence and inducted into the NZ Road Transport Hall of Fame in 2013.”

“Trevor is one of New Zealand’s most experienced directors and Move shareholders have been privileged to have him at the helm as the company has made the transition from a privately owned to a publicly listed entity.

Jim Ramsey

“We are now well positioned to move our company forward, with a comprehensive review underway to create a clear pathway to realising Move’s potential.”

The board will take the opportunity to acknowledge the contributions of Janes and Ramsey at the 2021 Annual Meeting.

*Correction: This article originally stated incorrectly that Lorraine Witten would become the first female chairperson of an NZX-listed transport company. That title goes to Sue Sheldon who was chair of Freightways from 2010 until her retirement in October 2018.
