In 2015 Brazil was the third biggest producer of cow’s milk with more than 38 tonnes collected by local tanker operator “Vía Lácteos” and delivered to processing facilities.
The Brazilian dairy transport company operates more than 500 tankers making daily trips to remote farms across the rough and narrow sloping terrain of the Brazilian prairie as well as cruising along asphalt highways.
Mercedes-Benz Trucks Brazil custom tailored trucks department is collaborating with Vía Lácteos in developing an Atego model which is both comfortable to drive on-road yet meets the demand for robustness off-road.
It is enhancing the on-road Atego with a robustness package to enable easier navigation of the challenging Brazilian prairie.
The package includes a three-part front bumper, which significantly increases the ground clearance, a protective metallic grill for the headlights, newly positioned direction lights for tight turning manoeuvres and a metal entrance step.
Mercedes-Benz Trucks Brazil says Vía Lácteos has already ordered the first production units, and it is reporting keen interest in the new product from customers in the mining and waste industry as well.
