The head of Melbourne’s International Truck, Trailer & Equipment Show (ITTES) says despite a ‘small element’ in the market being negative towards the show – things are looking to be bigger and better.

The show had been similar in format to the highly successful Brisbane Truck Show, but change has been underway to differentiate the Melbourne event.

Organising committee chair John Murphy notes there has been a strong demand for space at the event, set down for May 5-7.

“We understand that there is a small element in the market trying to undermine the value of ITTES for their own agenda, but the organising committee would like to state that the overwhelming demand for space reinforces the need for an event of this type in Australia’s freight capital every second year,” Murphy says.

“The fact that this show has been forced to evolve to meet the needs of the market is proof that the Melbourne event’s future is assured with or without certain brand support.”

“2016 will proceed as a dynamic show with an entirely new look and feel,” he explains. “Of the 350 participants registered, almost 40% are new exhibitors we have never had at the expo before.

“We are well on our way to our goal of 400 exhibitors, which will well and truly make the show larger than the Brisbane Truck Show – both in exhibition numbers and in physical size.”

There will be a shift from some of the major OE manufacturers to a long list of ancillary suppliers and fleets who will have their equipment on show.

The is not to say manufacturers will not be there, with Volvo Group having confirmed their attendance.

“The organising committee is therefore confident that the 2016 instalment will have more new trucks and trailers on show than any other previous Australian event – despite the shift, this also applies to major OE manufacturers.”

A new layout and moving display features will ensure that the show is fresh and an entirely new approach for transport expos in Australasia. The full exhibitor list will be made available a month ahead of the show.
