Gisborne-based McKay Transport has become the first company in New Zealand to achieve full TruckSafe certification, marking a milestone for the transport industry and the safety programme’s rollout in this country.
TruckSafe New Zealand is a transport-specific safety management system owned by the Transport Well Charitable Trust and designed to improve safety, compliance and operational performance across the industry.
McKay Transport’s certification followed an independent audit that verified TruckSafe’s systems, processes and safety culture have been fully integrated throughout the business.
TruckSafe New Zealand says the achievement sets a new benchmark for the industry.

TruckSafe says the certification provides independent verification that the company meets the programme’s standards and gives customers confidence they are working with a transport operator committed to audited safety management practices.
The organisation says the achievement also highlights the value of a transport-specific safety management system.
