Mazda to end commercial production

The Japanese newspaper Nikkei has reported that Mazda will stop development of commercial vehicles after 2015, due to lack of domestic demand.

That won’t affect New Zealand new Mazdas, including the BT-50 ute, but could impact on imports of used Mazda commercials being imported.

The main vehicles to be affected are the Bongo and E-Series light truck ranges of commercials, as many of the other commercials imported are essentially re-badged other Japanese brands.

Currently 10%  of used commercials imported into New Zealand are Mazda-badged, which many Nissan used imports re-badged Mazda vehicles as well.
