A public meeting tonight allowing the Auckland mayoral candidates to put forward their transportation policies for the Super City is the brainchild of the Campaign for Better Transport.
It is holding the meeting at the Jubilee Hall, 545 Parnell Road, Parnell from 7.15pm for a 7.30pm start. Confirmed participants include: Chloe Swarbrick, David Hay, John Palino, Mark Thomas, Penny Bright, and
Phil Goff.
“We’ve held these meetings for the last few local body elections,” says Campaign for Better Transport spokesperson Cameron Pitches.
“They are a useful way of gauging how well mayoral candidates truly understand Auckland transport issues, what they are planning on doing about them and how they will fund solutions,” says Pitches.
He says each candidate is allocated five minutes to state their transport vision for Auckland, and there will be quick-fire questions to each candidate in turn.
At the end of the meeting, each candidate has two minutes for a closing statement before questions from the floor
“We are aiming to start wrapping the meeting up at around 9:00 pm,” says Pitches.
