Mainfreight has released its Annual Report 2022 which includes a “thank you” section with the names of more than 10,000 people who make up its global team.
“Yet again out people have risen to the many challenges of these extraordinary times.
“To our global team of 10,393, thank you for your loyalty, tenacity, imagination and commitment to doing more and going further for our customers and our company, often with less resource,” the company says.
Chairman Bruce Plested also praised the team and loyal customers for another successful year.
“We are now in our 45th year of operation and every year we learn more because of adversity and natural disasters from computer hackers to ships becoming stuck in the Suez Canal, floods, fires, famine, volcanoes, road accidents – all with many operations working 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
“We know that most of the freight we are moving is required on time and we have a company-wide passion to achieve, and achieve and keep on achieving. That is perhaps the most important way in which we retain our existing customers and grow our business,” Plested says.
Managing director Don Braid says the group’s financial performance over the past two years has been “satisfactory” against a background of ongoing supply chain congestion and the pandemic.
“Our people have been remarkable in maintaining services for our customers. This has enhanced our reputation and provides us with an excellent platform for further growth, instilling us with the confidence to commit to further capital investment and increase our infrastructure across all five regions.
“We face an uncertain economic environment with increasing inflation, continued supply chain congestion, and variability of discretionary spending (likely diverted to the service sector). We remain undeterred.
“Opportunities continue to present themselves, we are investing in our infrastructure, people, technology and customers, and we remain confident of ongoing growth and expansion no matter the conditions,” Braid says.
Mainfreight increased net profit after tax 88.9% to $355.4 million for its full year financial result. Revenue was up 47.2% to $5.22 billion for the twelve months to March 31.
