Mainfreight Sydney freight depot expansion

New Zealand international transport and logistics company, Mainfreight has announced plans to expand their Sydney-based freight depot after securing the land required next to their existing site at Prestons in Western Sydney.

The land acquisition allows Mainfreight to add 25 metres to the current raised freight dock, and will “relieve congestion for waiting trailers and drivers wanting to cross-dock freight,” says Mainfreight.

The raised docks allow all freight to be contained in a visible, controlled area and will include seven dock- levellers. The extension is designed to create space for up to 20 more vehicles to be loaded.

Mike Reid, Sydney branch manager says: “This extra efficiency will allow greater speed and control and the extra space will be of enormous benefit to our operations team, drivers and, in turn, our customers.”

The building will also accommodate B-Double access, with extra hard stand space at the back of the building for efficient access for these and other large vehicles.
