Penske Commercial Vehicles offers MAN owners three types of MAN service contract for on-highway vehicles, including 4×2, 6×2, 6×4, and 8×4 vehicles.
MAN also provides a warranty extension of the driveline for up to five years and 800,000km, and customers can combine an extended warranty package with a flat rate service contract (refer comfort plus package below) for total peace of mind, according to Penske Commercial Vehicles.
The MAN comfort service contract covers all regular servicing work as prescribed by the truck manufacturer, including road tests as required.
Engine, transmission, and axle oils are included in this plan as well as oil, fuel, air, and pollen filters plus the air dryer cartridge. Other items included are headlight adjustment, coolant level and concentrate, remaining brake pad life, hydraulic oil for cab-tipping equipment and steering and battery fluid.
The MAN comfort plus service contract includes all the service items above plus an extended warranty package, with a contract duration tailored to suit the customer’s need and requirements.
The extended power-train warranty covers engines, standard transmission, automatic transmission, transfer case, rear axle, and driven front axle and prop shaft.
For the engine, this extended warranty includes the engine case, cylinder head, crank gear, engine control, injection system, EDC control unit, turbocharger, intake/exhaust manifold, engine brake, cooling system, and engine lubrication.
For the standard transmission, this extended warranty includes the gearbox housing, shafts, splitter unit, range unit, power take-off, lubrication system, retarder hydraulic gear, AS-Tronic control unit, and the gear change devices in transmission splitter and range units.
For the hydraulic gearbox (automatic transmission) this extended warranty includes converters, gearbox brake, and transmission housing.
For the transfer case, this extended warranty includes the transfer case housing, shafts, gears and bearings.
For the rear axles and driven front axle, this extended warranty includes the axle housing, differential and planetary hub reduction gear.
For the prop shaft, this extended warranty includes the universal joints as well as the propeller shafts.
The MAN comfort repair service plan covers all the services of the comfort contract, plus all normal wear and tear repairs to the vehicle.
This package includes repairs to the engine, transmission, chassis, steering box, steering arms and suspension, cab, brake system, as well as electrical equipment, bulbs, and fuses.
Penske Commercial Vehicles says the benefits of the MAN service contracts are lower maintenance costs due to discounted parts and labour pricing, optimal fuel consumption through the correct tuning of the vehicles, and minimised down time.
It also points out that service contracts provide MAN customers with the surety of financial planning and costing, as well as reduced staff and administration cost, and higher vehicle resale value.
