Well-known Vehicle Inspection New Zealand staff member Phil Horne passed away suddenly last weekend – aged 57.
Well
known to the trade, Horne had been with the company for 19 years, and
his latest role was as station manager of the Mt Wellington branch. He
was one of the original staff members when VINZ was formed.
Chief executive Frank Willett says Horne was the face of VINZ to many.
“Phil
was considered the ‘face’ of VINZ in Auckland by many and developed
strong and enduring relationships with the industry for the company,”
Willett says. “Many clients and staff also became personal friends of
Phil due to his great sense of humour and very likeable character and
great to be around.
“Phil was the branch supervisor when I first
joined VINZ in 1994 as an inspector,” Willett says. “I was very happy to
be working with him again when I rejoined VINZ 5 years ago.”
“I
shall miss him greatly as will all the staff and clients,” says Willett.
“My thoughts are now with the family as we attend the funeral this
afternoon.”
