The author of ‘The Good Lobbyist’s Guide’ has been appointed as the new executive director of the Shipping Federation.
Former National Party list MP Annabel Young, who also worked in the office of Judith Collins prior to the 2014 election, took up the role in the new year.
Young replaces Jim Doyle who held the role for the past three years.
New Zealand Shipping Federation president, Steve Chapman, says that the appointment signals that the Federation wants a stronger voice in decision-making.
“Coastal shipping is a vital part of New Zealand’s transport infrastructure, alongside road and rail, but shipping is often overlooked,” says Chapman
Pacifica Shipping and Strait Shipping have recently announced the acquisition of increased shipping capacity.
There are good reasons to factor coastal shipping into any discussions about transport and we want to be part of that discussion. Coastal shipping is the unsung hero of New Zealand’s transport system,” says Chapman.
Young was an MP from 1997-2002. Since then she has been the chief executive at Federated Farmers, and at the Pharmacy Guild.
