A company executive says it’s part of PepsiCo’s effort to reduce fuel costs and fleet emissions during the distribution of sodas and snacks to retailers, Reuters reports.

PepsiCo’s current US fleet relies on 10,000 diesel trucks.

Tesla chief executive officer Elon Musk says the new trucks “look like a bullet” as part of a design to reduce drag.

They can get to 96.5km/h in five seconds and have a 804.6km range and pull a maximum allowable load of 36,287kgs.

Reservations for the Tesla Semi can be made for US$5000 per truck with production starting in 2019.
