The Japanese truck brand saw 104 registrations in August, while Fuso was second on the monthly charts with 75 new truck registered.

The records were heavily weighted in favour of light duty trucks (3500 to 9000kg GVM) with 64 units registered, while it was the brands lowest month yet for medium duty truck (9001 to 23,000kg GVM) registrations with 18 recorded.

In the heavy duty spaces (23,001+ GVM) the Isuzu Giga took 22 registrations in the month of August.

Isuzu Trucks New Zealand general manager Colin Muir says the distributor is jubilant with the August result, but there is yet more to come before the end of the year.

“Once again we wholesaled more trucks to dealers in August than were sold by the retailing network, we keep backfilling the pipeline, so we’re doing okay,” says Muir.

“I think we’re safe for the number one spot again, but we’re not resting on our laurels, we’ve got the right foot firmly pressed on the gas pedal,” he says.

Muir also says he is looking forward to having former Mercedes-Benz trucks senior manager David Ballantyne join the Isuzu Trucks team in the position of national sales manager on September 12.
