Isuzu New Zealand has retained its position as the market leader in the heavy commercial vehicle segment in 2025, while also finishing the year as New Zealand’s top-selling truck brand in both the light-duty and medium-duty categories.
Motor Industry Association registration data shows Isuzu led the heavy commercial vehicle market above 3500kg GVM in a year when total heavy commercial registrations fell 24.1% compared with 2024. The figures cover the heavy commercial sector above 3500kg GVM, including some heavy vans.
Despite the significantly softer market conditions, Isuzu Trucks New Zealand recorded the highest overall volumes across the year.
Based on 2025 registration data, Isuzu was the number one heavy commercial brand overall, the leading truck brand in the light-duty segment led by the Isuzu N Series, and the leading brand in the medium-duty segment led by the Isuzu F Series.
The result extends Isuzu’s long-running position as New Zealand’s leading heavy commercial truck brand and reflects the marque’s strength across a wide range of transport applications.
A major milestone for Isuzu New Zealand during 2025 was the introduction of the all-new N and F Series ranges, which delivered step-change improvements in emissions performance, safety and driver comfort.

Isuzu New Zealand general manager Dave Ballantyne says the result was particularly pleasing given the overall market conditions.
“I’m very pleased that Isuzu has again maintained its position as the leading heavy commercial truck brand in 2025,” Ballantyne says.
“The services provided by our Isuzu dealer network were again an important factor last year, and I want to also acknowledge the support from both our long-term and new customers to the Isuzu brand.”
Ballantyne says the arrival of the new-generation models was a highlight for the year.
“A definite highlight for the year was introducing the all-new N & F Series models that meet Euro VI and the equivalent Japanese emission standards, and also include an increased level of safety features and Advanced Driver Assistance systems,” he says.
“These new models started to arrive late last year and we’re keen to get them into the hands of customers.”
Isuzu New Zealand says its performance continues to be underpinned by the support provided through its nationwide Master Truck Dealer and authorised service centre network, covering vehicle specification, body integration, aftersales support, parts and maintenance.
The company says strong customer confidence in the brand, built over many years, combined with the breadth of the N and F Series ranges, has helped sustain market leadership despite weaker freight activity and delayed fleet replacement across the sector.
With the latest N and F Series trucks now entering service, Isuzu New Zealand says it is well placed to support operators as they respond to tightening emissions standards, increasing safety expectations and growing demands on fleet productivity.
