A tyre industry summit will be held in Auckland from June 2 to 3 to focus on sustainable outcomes for end-of-life tyres (ELT) in New Zealand.
Co-ordinated by the industry group WasteMINZ with sponsorship from Bridgestone, Goodyear-Dunlop, the Motor Trade Association, Tyreline, Beaurepaires, and Tyre Collection Services Ltd, the Tyre Industry Summit 2015 will be held at the Crowne Plaza hotel in Auckland.
MTA industry relationship manager Greig Epps says its an opportunity for people within the industry to get together and discuss how to deal with ELTs in a safe and responsible way.
It is the organisers intention that the summit will be attended by tyre importers, retailers, ELT collectors, ELT processors, waste service providers as well as consumer and business organisations.
Delegates will learn how other countries have turned collecting, sorting and recycling tyres into a ‘business as usual’ activity on a macro scale.
They will also hear from Ministry for Environment officials about progressing ELT stewardship in New Zealand.
Insights into turning a concept into reality will be shared with the summit audience from Canadian and Australian programme managers.
