The reluctance by the transport and logistics industry to engage in the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA) heavy vehicle fuel efficiency programme has seen the project shut down with one well-known industry figure taking redundancy.

EECA heavy transport programme manager John Doesburg is finishing up on November 27 after three and a half years service with the government agency.

Doesburg says he has opted for voluntary redundancy following a restructuring of the heavy transport team due to the closing down of the heavy vehicle programme, resulting in two positions identified as surplus to requirements.

“I have opted for voluntary redundancy,” says Doesburg in an email sent out to members of the transport industry this morning.

“Ian and Russell will be continuing in the meantime. Thanks for your support and a few good laughs along the way.  I wish you all the very best for the future,” says Doesburg.
