Hyundai SeasAll has announced details of its new S270 model, which is now the highest horsepower unit in the brand’s product range.
The new 270hp S270 is based on the established S250 model, and utilises the same 3.0L common rail V6, however design improvements allow it to produce more power, while taking up less space.
The new S270 produces 565Nm of torque, 26Nm more than the S250, whilst changes to the intake manifold allow the S270 to be just 535.4mm in height, 69.6mm lower than the S250.
As for the S250, the S270 has a compacted graphite iron (CGI) block which Hyundais SeasAll says provides superior stiffness and engine longevity, and is mated to a 24 valve cylinder head featuring common rail direct injection (CRDi).
“The new S270 is a great addition to our line up. Being more compact, it will be a great engine option to consider for repowers of older vessels and for designers to consider in new builds,” says Allpower Marine business development manager Mark Harrison.
“The ECU injection map of the S270 is all new and has been designed to deliver a flat torque curve giving both superior acceleration as well as power at the top end.”
The engine is fully compatible with the company’s new SeasLink Smartphone application which allows users to look at engine diagnostic information and export it straight to a service centre as well as recording trip reports, displaying engine info and recording vessel tracks on a navigation map.
The S270 will be available for sterndrive, shaft drive and water jet configurations. Allpower Marine can supply linkages that will allow Hyundai SeasAll engines to be coupled with ZF gearboxes and adaptor kits to link with Volvo Penta and MerCruiser stern-legs.
“Ease of installation and ease of service, coupled with performance and economy gains are major selling points for the new S270. We see this engine as being a great option for anyone looking to power a vessel with a lightweight, economical and powerful diesel power plant. It will have great appeal to the twin engine launch market as well as larger trailer-boats,” says Harrison.
“What’s more, the Hyundai SeasAll common rail technology is also more environmentally friendly and easily meets the latest EPA Tier 3 emissions regulations.”
The new S270 Hyundai SeasAll fills a mid range segment for the brand with engines already available from 125hp to 500hp in 23 basic configurations.
