The New Zealand Transport Agency has begun the process of looking for a new leader, following the resignation of long standing chief executive Geoff Dangerfield.
Dangerfield has been at the helm of the agency since its formation – by the merger of Land Transport New Zealand and Transit New Zealand – in 2008. His tenure will end in December.
Chairman Chris Moller says while the news marks a significant loss to the NZTA and to the wider transport sector in New Zealand, the Board was very grateful for the years of dedicated service and the consistently high results which Dangerfield had delivered.
“Geoff was appointed to lead what was then a new and an untested Crown Entity when the Transport Agency was established in 2008,” Moller explains. “Geoff harnessed the passion and the skills of those organisations and has worked tirelessly with his team to establish the Transport Agency as a top-performing organisation with an enviable record of achievement.
“Geoff will leave behind an organisation that is well positioned to continue delivering transport solutions which will help New Zealand to thrive.”
Moller says the Board also wished to recognise Geoff’s long and distinguished career in the public service, including as chief executive of the Ministry of Economic Development and deputy secretary to the Treasury.
