The Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live Glow Party is revving up for its debut New Zealand tour, bringing its action-packed, glow-in-the-dark arena show to Kiwi audiences for the first time.
The show will roll into Dunedin’s Forsyth Barr Stadium on September 20, Sky Stadium in Wellington on September 27, and Auckland’s Eden Park on October 4.
Based on the world’s top-selling toy brand, the high-octane live show features life-sized versions of fan-favourite Hot Wheels monster trucks — including Bigfoot, Bone Shaker, Tiger Shark and Race Ace — performing “fiery wheelies, donuts and car-crushing stunts”.
The Warehouse is backing the three-stop New Zealand tour as presenting partner. Jo Mitchell, the company’s general manager of marketing, says local fans are in for a treat.
“One Hot Wheels toy revs off our shelves every 20 seconds, and we sell more Hot Wheels than any other retailer in New Zealand,” Mitchell says.
“We’re excited to give our customers the chance to see the show and get their hands on VIP backstage experiences. A few special towns might even see the trucks and drivers outside our stores — so stay tuned to The Warehouse social media channels.”
TEG Group, the Australian-based promoter behind the event, says it’s thrilled to finally bring the international hit show across the ditch.
“After colossal success in North America, Europe and Australia over the last six years, bringing Hot Wheels Monster Trucks Live to New Zealand has been a long-time goal of ours,” TEG Group chief executive Geoff Jones says.
“New Zealand has a strong history of supporting international touring acts, and we hope the crowds come out to support this family-focused theatrical spectacular.”
Dedicated fans can go beyond the grandstand with special access packages, including the all-new Pre-Show Party, which offers the chance to meet drivers and see the monster trucks up close on the arena floor.
The top-tier Legends Backstage VIP Experience includes a behind-the-scenes tour, exclusive merchandise and VIP access to the Pre-Show Party.
