The hot laps provided by CMC Markets allowed Vodanovich, 18, to share his experience and encouragement with Beth Reid, Lovely Pulotu and David Hafoka Pulotu who received the Gold Heart Scholarship, valued up to $5000 each, to help them reach their full potential.

Vodanovich placed fourth at the 2018-19 Toyota 86 Championship, an impressive effort in his only two years of experience. He will move to Australia having graduated to the Australian Toyota 86 Series.

“I’m genuinely honoured to have the opportunity to inspire other young Kiwis to continue reaching for their dreams,” says Vodanovich.

“As one of the youngest and fastest rising motorsport stars New Zealand has ever produced, Peter is a natural role model for other Kiwis,” CMC Markets New Zealand general manager Chris Smith says. “We’re so glad the Variety scholars were able to meet Peter and hear his story, and wish Peter all the best as he continues to pursue his dream in Australia.”

Vodanovich credits his success this season to CMC’s support. “Thanks to everyone who has supported me on my journey so far. Here’s to the next stage!”

Variety – the Children’s Charity chief executive officer Lorraine Taylor says they’re grateful to CMC Markets for its financial support over 12 years as the founding sponsor of the Gold Heart Scholarship programme and for championing youngsters.

Applications for the 2019 Gold Heart Scholarships close on March 29, available for sports, academia, and the performing arts.

Scholarships are awarded to children up to age 18 who are financially disadvantaged or living with an illness or disability but have exceptional talent. Up to $5000 is available per child.
