With a fleet of 32 trucks, nine of them being Hino’s, taking delivery of a new one is no surprise.
Wanganui transporters Dave Hoskin Carriers took delivery of a new Euro V Hino 700 FY 8×4 yesterday, receiving the keys from Hino Distributors New Zealand general manager Ray Roberts.
The handover ceremony marked a milestone for Hoskin Carriers, as well as the Hino truck brand which celebrates half a century of sales in New Zealand this year.
According to the Wanganui Chronicle company founder Dave Hosking says the company’s first Hino truck which was purchased in 1991 is still “going strong”, and it has ticked over more than two million kilometres in its working life.
The first two 195hp Hino trucks to be sold in New Zealand were imported and assembled in Auckland in 1964 and delivered to logging companies in Rotorua.
Robert’s told the Wanganui Chronicle that with predictions of domestic freight growing by more than 75% over the next 20 years the industry was a competitive one. He also says that acknowledging customers such as Hoskins Carriers was an important part of Hino’s activities this year.
