Hino Australia arrived at the 2017 Brisbane Truck Show with a spectacular line-up of vehicles to tackle Aussie truck market sales leader Isuzu.
The company presented a prototype version of the 300 Series 4×4, developed specifically for the Australian market and will be available in dealerships from the fourth quarter of 2017.
“In addition to revealing the 300 Series 4×4, the show is also a platform for us to showcase the refinement of our brand and the evolution of our business,” says Hino Motor Sales Australia chairman and chief executive officer Steve Lotter.
“We want our customers to feel that we are a reliable business partner with whom they have a long-term partnership – this is demonstrated by the products and services present on our stand,” says Lotter.
Hino also exhibited three of the more than 50 variants of its new 500 Series Wide Cab medium duty trucks – the GH1835, FG1628 and FM2632 models – in what is the first major public display of the range.
As part of the evolution of its 500 Series range, Hino also announced additions to the transmission options for its Wide Crew Cab FG model, plus a new automatic choice for GT 4×4 customers.
Buyers of the Wide Crew Cab FG now have the option of either a Hino 6 speed manual transmission or an Allison 3000 Series 6-speed automatic transmission, which makes Hino the only Japanese manufacturer of a 15.5-tonne GVM crew cab truck to offer a factory-fitted Allison automatic transmission.
Hino will also offer an Allison 2500 series automatic transmission for its GT single cabin model, an option its GT crew cab customers already have.
The best-selling diesel-electric light duty commercial vehicle in Australia, the Hino 300 Series Hybrid was also featured.
Available in eight variants, the model displayed uses a 150HP (110kW) / 420Nm diesel engine in parallel with a 36kW / 333Nm electric motor which is both mated to a Hino ProShift 5 Automated Manual Transmission.
Another key model representing the 300 Series range was the 616 IFS Tipper, an example of the Hino ‘Built To Go’ range.
With standard safety features including vehicle stability control, dual SRS airbags, ABS and Anti Slip Regulator (ASR), it boasts a 150HP (110kW) diesel engine with 420Nm of torque. It can be rated at 4,495-kilogram GVM or 5,500-kilogram GVM.
The 700 Series heavy-duty range was represented by an SH2045 which was mated up to the Hino Sports Deck display trailer, a popular attraction at the Virgin Australia Supercars Championship, of which Hino is a passionate sponsor.
The SH2045 features a 450HP (331kW) / 2157Nm turbocharged, inter-cooled six-cylinder diesel engine matched to a 16-speed ZF AS Tronic Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) with integrated hydraulic retarder and Jacob`s type engine brake, ISRI 6860/870 driver’s seat and cruise control.
It also includes disc brakes, Vehicle Stability Control (VSC) and a driver’s SRS airbag.
