Prices for GWM New Zealand’s new Cannon ute range start at $29,990 form the rear-wheel drive Dual Cab 4×2 with a 2.0 litre manual.

GWM utes were known formerly as Great Walls. They have started arriving in New Zealand ahead of the truck’s launch in November when full model line-up, specifications, features and pricing will be announced.

The Chinese brand’s own 2.0-litre turbodiesel engine which develops 120kW and 400Nm is standard across the range and drives through a six-speed manual or ZF eight-speed automatic gearbox depending on the model.

GWM says it has improved significantly levels of noise, vibration and harshness (NVH) to improve the in-cabin ambience and make driving smoother.

Standard equipment includes seven airbags, and driver aids like Lane Keep Assist and Autonomous Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection.

GWM’s Australasian marketing boss Steve Maciver says that given the competitiveness of the NZ ute market, it was important that we come in with a strong product offering and unbeatable value. “We expect to see increased customer interest in showrooms over the coming weeks.”
