Auckland waste services company, Green Gorilla, has launched its new Shhhhh dual collection vehicles, which it says are a more efficient and much quieter alternative to traditional refuse collection trucks.
The new Shhhhh trucks are being targeted at Auckland businesses that require a regular collection service, such as institutions, restaurants, cafes and schools.
The design of the new Green Gorilla vehicles allows the engine to shut off when the vehicle is stationary. The system that empties the bin and compacts the waste is driven by electricity rather than the truck’s diesel engine, making the process waste removal quieter and reducing the amount of exhaust emissions.
The trucks have rechargeable batteries that are recharged through the national grid each night, using energy from renewable sources.
“Sustainability and efficiency is at the heart of what we do by using these new Shhhhh vehicles,” says Green Gorilla MD Graeme Bowkett.
”Both recycling and general rubbish can be picked up by the same truck, which increases the efficiency of collection, reduces traffic on the roads, it also reduces emissions and means less disruption to customers.”
