Fulton Hogan and Heijmans have formed a partnership to share products and intellectual property in the markets in which they operate.
The agreement was signed on Friday in Sydney in the presence of His Majesty King Willem-Alexander and her Majesty Queen Máxima of the Netherlands, as part of the Dutch economic mission to Australia and New Zealand.
Heijmans products include BikeScout, which helps improve safety for cyclists by using mart signals to warn drivers when cyclists are approaching a dangerous intersection; Brain Joint, a quiet expansion joint that absorbs the movements of a bridge or viaduct; Recoflex, an innovative asphalt system; and FairyTrail, a ‘glow in the dark’ concrete system.

Fulton Hogan managing director Nick Miller says technology transfer between the two companies is an effective way of bringing proven products to market.
“Our strategic alliance with Heijmans means we can help each other market products, and adapt them for use in the countries in which we operate. The agreement could see us making complete end products or semi-finished products, sharing IP for asphalt mixes or production techniques, as well as providing our people in a consultancy capacity on specific projects,” he says.
Heijmans’ Joziene van de Linde says that rather than establishing a company, the alliance will work closely with Fulton Hogan which already has a presence in New Zealand and Australia. He adds that the alliance will benefit the two companies’ customers because they will have a broader range of products on offer.
“Formalising the alliance today is the first step towards developing a licensing agreement with Fulton Hogan for our products,” he concludes.
