General manager Chris Blair says that its fair to say that the introduction of the Kangoo, Trafic and Master models add some French flair to small, medium and large business users – and is long overdue.

The company says it has been the number one selling LCV range in Europe for more than 16 years.

Blair says that given the products’ proven global record, he expects it will make an impact on the LCV segment in New Zealand.

Renault New Zealand has already received expressions of interest from a number of commercial fleet operators, but Blair wouldn’t put a figure on the number of expected sales.

The Renault Kangoo is the only van in its class locally to offer an automatic transmission and it also has a Euro NCAP 4-star safety rating. Renault says the cabin width of 1829mm in the Kangoo offers flexible cargo carrying space as well as providing plenty of room for the occupants.

The mid-size Trafic van offers low running costs thanks to a 85kW turbo-diesel engine says Renault.
Measuring 5548mm long, 2070mm wide and 2502mm high, Renault says the Trafic is able to carry more internal weight than competitors in the same class and delivers the best payload in its class – at 1244kg.

According to Renault, the length of its cabin is shorter than competitors which makes the Trafic ideal for navigating city traffic and tight underground car parks.

The Trafic is also environmentally friendly with 90% of its components being recyclable.

Renault says the Master van is suited to urban multi-drop duties. The front-wheel drive L3H2 Master offers a mid-roof and a long wheelbase.

The Renault Kangoo model is priced from $29,990, the Trafic from $47,990 and the Master from $59,990.
