Fruehauf NZ to distribute Sunswap electric refrigeration units

Fruehauf NZ has been appointed the exclusive New Zealand distributor for Sunswap, bringing the battery and solar-powered transport refrigeration system to the local market for the first time.

Sunswap’s Endurance transport refrigeration unit replaces the conventional diesel engine with battery power supported by roof-mounted solar panels.

Fruehauf says the system has been developed to provide diesel-matching refrigeration performance, including range, temperature pull-down and reliability, without tailpipe emissions from the refrigeration unit.

“No diesel engine. No tailpipe. Diesel-matching performance, powered by sun and battery instead,” Fruehauf says.

The appointment gives Fruehauf responsibility for specifying, building and supporting Sunswap-equipped units for New Zealand operators.

“From here, it’s over to our people: the team who’ll be specifying, building and supporting every unit that goes out the gate, the same way we’ve supported Kiwi fleets for decades,” the company says.
