Foton is targeting second-hand ute buyers by launching a 4×2 version of its Tunland turbo diesel pick-up at a price point of $29,990.

Foton New Zealand chief executive officer Roger Jory says the Tunland 4×2 offers buyers a new brand new ute with a three-year warranty “for the same price as some used utes with a whole lot of km on the clock.”

“It’s a pretty compelling offer,” says Jory. “The two-wheel drive option adds another ute to a section of the market that simply have no need to pay for four-wheel-drive,” he says.

The new two-wheel-drive, five-speed manual Tunland double-cab model has the same 2.8-litre Cummins ISF turbo engine, and interior as the upgraded 2017 Tunland 4×4 model launched earlier this year.

Foton provides a three-year, 100,000km warranty and roadside assistance for the Tunland 4×2 double cab.

Standard equipment includes 16-inch alloy wheels, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, rear parking sensors, cruise control, daytime running lamps and automatic headlights, and hill hold assist.

Foton is producing over 650,000 vehicles annually and is currently ranked first in the Global Commercial Vehicle Industry regarding production and sales.
