Ford New Zealand has the Ranger taking top spot overall in the market for the year is a ‘huge milestone’.
“We’ve always said, we’d leave it up to the customer to decide and the Kiwi customer has well and truly decided,” outgoing managing director Corey Holter told AutoTalk.
“It’s a fantastic result for the Ford Ranger – not only being the number one ute but also the overall number one vehicle,” Holter explains.
“It’s a huge milestone for the vehicle and the company.”
“It’s certainly good to take the number one position but what is more satisfying is knowing that the Ford Ranger is what Kiwis are driving,” says Holter. “There is a leading sales number and many people focus on that but for us, it’s the customers that matter.”
Hotter took the opportunity to take at least a minor dig at the opposition.
“The Ford Ranger is not propped up by sales to rental companies and it won’t be.”
AutoTalk understands the company is awaiting to confirm if the Ranger won both the two-wheel-drive and four-wheel-drive ute segments, a split competitor Toyota took aim at in marketing early last year.
