Fletchers-paddedNot content with its current $1.6 billion worth of work on the books, Fletcher Construction wants to bid for $4 billion-plus of public private partnership contracts with a number of European partners.

To do this it will need to align with international construction companies with PPP experience, and Fletcher has named Acciona of Spain, Vinci Construction (France), Ferrovial (Spain), and OHL as potential bidding partners.

Fletcher construction chief executive Grahham Darlow says these companies would provide much more in the way of funding and creating special purpose vehicles. Fletcher would provide the design and construction skills required.

Darlow says there more than $4 billion worth of work coming in private partnership form and Fletcher needs to reconfigure its operation to meet the market.

Amongst the top ten construction projects it currently is involved with, Fletcher construction is part of the roading alliance working on the $430 million Waterview connection, it is also allied with NZTA on the $400 million contract to build a 23km expressway on the Kapiti coast from Mackay to Peka Peka, and it has a contract with NZTA to build the $80 million dollar Rangiriri Bypass in the Waikato.
