Surveillance and technology company Viewtech has released a new recording system designed for commercial vehicles and equipment.
The Fleetview device is a multi-channel digital video recorder and camera system which targets the transportation industry.
It works by combining extensive knowledge of blind spot areas and recording into a platform that can be used for video verification.

The system helps to mitigate health and safety risks and improve machine operations across any moving plant.
Viewtech managing director Darren Jenkinson says the system is proving popular in the material handling, logistics and traffic management industries.
“Fleetview enables a vehicle to be fitted out with up to eight cameras that are all simultaneously recorded to a secure storage unit in HD resolution.
“Along with being recorded, Fleetview also records GPS data, g-force data and audio.
“Fleetview allows full live access to a fleet’s cameras via a cloud-based interface or mobile device.
“Within the traffic management industry, our systems have been vital in reducing the costs of dealing with public complaints.
“Complaints are now sorted out within minutes rather than weeks,” Jenkinson says.
A range of camera options allow recording internally or externally around any type of vehicle.
It can also integrate into the Viewtech reversing monitor range when drivers and operators need to be able to live view any of the cameras.
Video evidence helps fleet operators in a range of ways including traffic events, loading damage, driver behaviour, loss or damage to property, health and safety, management and complaint handling and mitigation.
Easy to use software enables management of videos in one interface and 4G capabilities allow video events to be accessed as soon as they happen rather than having to retrieve footage upon the vehicle’s return.
“Fleetview hardware is extremely robust and fully tested for extremely rugged environments.
“Often our systems are being installed in machines such as large forklifts or street cleaners where vibration, water and dust are all issues,” Jenkinson says.
Viewtech, established in 2006, is a New Zealand-owned company based in Christchurch.
Specialising in both fixed and vehicle systems it also designs and supplies video and CCTV systems for a range of industries from retail through to marine.
