The NZ National Fieldays (NZNFS) Society board is appointing its former board member Peter Nation as its new chief executive.

The NZNFS received more than 65 applications, including one from Nation, for the role, and president Warwick Roberts says the quality of candidates was extremely high.

Nation, who has served on the society’s board of directors since 2004, has held the position of vice president of the organisation since 2013.

He is leaving his current management role at Gallagher, taking the leadership role in the Society, beginning March 14, 2016.

“Peter brings much experience from his time with Gallagher Group and also his previous leadership roles with the ANZ Banking Group,” says Roberts.

Nation says he has dedicated his life to the ag industry so his chief executive role at the Society presents a new challenge.

“The Society offers a lot of opportunity for growth and future developments, which is exciting,” says Nation.

“From the Masterplan site works to the building of charitable endeavours and the continuing support of the next generation in agribusiness, this is a very special organisation to be part of at this time,” he says.

The NZNFS also welcomed new board directors at its December AGM.

Then newly-elected Board Directors are James Allen, Sir John Gallagher and Jenni Vernon (who was a co-opted Board Director for 2015).

Co-opted Board Directors are Bill Falconer (returning for the second year), Brent Goldsack and Pam Roa.

Peter Carr returns as a Board Director. Warwick Roberts returns as President for the next year.
