ssangyong The directors of Great Lake Motor Distributors (GLMD) are seeking expressions of interest from new car dealers in the fast growing SsangYong range of passenger vehicles and SUVs as well as the LDV light commercial range.

Since taking on SsangYong, GLMD has seen the Korean brand grow from 400 to 2500 sales in less than five years, and it says that LDV light commercial sales rose to 800 in 2015.

GLMD says there are more new products on the way to increase the breadth and depth of both brands, and hence, it is seeking expressions of interest from established new car dealers.

It says there are many new exciting offerings arriving from SsangYong over the next 18 months, following on from the successful local launch of the Tivoli crossover in 2015.

It also says that SsangYong placed No.1 overall on the MTA dealer satisfaction survey for 2014, and topped many categories in the 2015 survey.

LDV will see the arrival of a new pick-up model in petrol, diesel, 4×2, 4×4, and single, extra, and double cab versions in the middle of 2017 as well as a new SUV, which uses the same platform as the pick-up.

GLMD managing director Rick Cooper says he is seeking new car dealers across New Zealand who have the passion for taking on the two brands and creating more loyal and satisfied customers.

Cooper says the Chinese government owns LDV, and it is serious about developing a quality product for export markets at a competitive price, and he says SsangYong is following in the footsteps of the other Korean brands in becoming a respected quality mass market player.

“I want to have conversations with dedicated stand-alone new vehicle dealers from all over New Zealand, who wish to help us take these two growing quality brands to the next level,” says Cooper.

“My son Deon and I are proud to be the distributors for Ssangyong and LDV, and we are looking for passionate people to join us and give the brands the love and attention to detail they justly deserve,” he says.
