Z Energy has appointed Mark Malpass as independent director to the board, effectively immediately.
“Mark is an experienced board director and chief executive with considerable relevant industry experience gained both here in New Zealand and abroad,” Z chair Abby Foote says.
“He brings additional experience to the Z board in the downstream fuel industry from his long career at ExxonMobil, where he also served as a director of NZ Refining, and more recently experience in NZ’s retail fuel market as a director of Waitomo Group.”
Foote says Malpass has a deep commitment to health and safety, governance and managing strategy and risk for large companies.
Malpass is based in Auckland and is the current Steel & Tube Holdings Limited chief executive.
The Z Board welcomes Malpass after searching for someone with relevant industry experience to enhance the Board’s overall performance.
Malpass will seek shareholder confirmation of his appointment by election at Z Energy’s annual shareholders’ meeting in June 2020.
The Board says Malpass meets the criteria and qualified as an independent director.
