Easter break could cause wharf backlog

VIA says compliance shops and dealers can help avoid backlog.

No trucking will occur off Auckland’s wharf during the four-day Easter break from April 19 when it usually unloads about 650 cars daily.

Vehicle Industry Association (VIA) says this could potentially lead to a build-up of 2600 cars, meaning that further vessels would be unable to discharge cargo.

Ports of Auckland has asked compliance shops and dealers assist by working with trucking companies to accept deliveries over the holiday weekend where possible to avoid backlog.

Dealers who have vehicles delivered straight to their premises from the wharf have been asked the same request.
