Downer has been awarded a road maintenance contract by Hamilton City Council valued up to $540 million over a maximum term of 10 years.
The contract is for an initial five-year term, plus provisions for extensions of three years and two years.
Downer will partner with Hamilton City Council in the Collaborative Corridor Agreement to deliver a broad scope of works including asset management, surfacing and renewals for road corridors, footpaths, bridges, culverts, lighting and on-road cycle lanes across Hamilton in the Waikato region.
Downer has a long relationship with Hamilton City Council dating back to the Hamilton Infrastructure Alliance which commenced in 2013. The Collaborative Corridor Agreement replaces the Hamilton Infrastructure Alliance and expands the scope of services delivered by Downer.
Downer chief executive Peter Tompkins says the firm was pleased to be extending its collaborative relationship with Hamilton City Council.
“This contract strengthens our position as the market leader in road services, maintaining more than 50,000 kilometres of roads across Australia and New Zealand.
“Downer will deliver reliable road networks to ensure efficient and safe journeys and also provide opportunities for local service providers and suppliers across the region.
“We look forward to continuing to work closely with Hamilton City Council on their Shape the City strategy, and to delivering on our shared sustainability goals,” Tompkins says.
