DHL Supply Chain has opened a new transport hub in Hamilton to support linehaul and last mile delivery services in the North Island.
The facility is strategically located to meet underserviced areas outside of Auckland, the company says.
It is fitted with state-of-the-art technology and equipment to meet the needs of regional customers in the surrounding communities, DHL says.
It is the latest addition to the company’s two-year transport network development strategy, following on from the establishment of its Whangarei, Tauranga, and Hawkes Bay transport hubs.
“With the addition of our new Hamilton hub and existing network, we are proud to now provide last mile and line haul services to customers in regions and key markets that represent over 50% of the country’s GDP,” DHL Supply Chain NZ managing director Matt Casbolt says.
“Our goal is to continue delivering an exceptional transport service to our customers, enabled by great people, a strong network presence, and partnering with the best transport service providers,” he says.
The new hub services customers across all sectors that require a high service standard in deliveries, including consumer goods, life sciences, healthcare, engineering, and IT sectors.
The facility brings DHL’s market-leading compliance, training, and health & safety procedures to this market, the company says.
DHL’s investment in regional areas is helping to enhance the resilience of supply chains in New Zealand, especially in the wake of recent global supply chain disruptions.
As part of this investment, DHL plan to open further hubs later this year and into 2024 to support ambitious growth plans for the New Zealand market, it says.
DHL now has a network of depots across Auckland, Whangarei, Tauranga, Hamilton and Hastings.
